"Edward Dismuke, 38, of Oakland was riding a bicycle when he was shot at about 9:50 p.m. near the corner of 38th and Allendale avenues. He was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where he was pronounced dead."

I think the writer used a narrative lead here because maybe they don't have the whole story so they just decided to give the whole story away in the summary lead instead of writing about it in the next paragraph. The writer doesn't have that much information on the story.

Getting Published
I was so excited when i heard that we get to interivew a person from my Journalism 120 class. I love to meet new people and observing there information. But on the other hand, I was kinda nervous. What if I get a quote wrong? What if i mispell his name? All those thoughts ran through my head. Publishing someone is exciting but the work itself could be difficult because you might not know how it will turn out. This article was for me, a little complicated. Coming up with the questions was not that bad, but it was the way to ask the question. He/she might respond in a one word answer and I might not know how to elaborate from there. So i managed to add a why, explain and how or tell format. The other part that was difficult was getting answers. Since i didn't have a recording device(kinda wish i had one)I was having difficulty jotting down what he had to say word for word. Then when I got home to look over my work, it was all chicken scratch. At least i can be able to read what i wrote. The best one i took down was his quote and it fit perfectly in the article.
Getting published I guess is exciting. I never been published before and the word "publish" sounds like I'm someone special. When i hear that i think of big movie people and I guess it's a good feeling. I just hope I'm not boring. That's what I'm kinda worried about. If people can relate or if the people are really interested in the story.
If there were factual errors or typos that were printed, I'll just cross my fingers and wish that it was something good that came out and not bad. But other than that I guess I can clear it out.
I guess people want to read an article that is interesting. That's a must. It should have quotes with humor because readers like funny. The article that was written on me probably had a lot of quotes because I like to talk, so readers want facts.
If I was to get interviewed and not get published, I think it would be okay. I mean you can use it for another time. I would like to be interviewed, but it will be a waste of time. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, but it depends how long the interview goes.

Technician Magician
Technician Magician
Not a lot of things inspire him to be who he is. “Be yourself” says Lidwell, a student from Skyline College. That was his response from when I asked him what quote that he lives by or follows. His hobby includes playing video games created by RPG and Sandbox. The types of music that he listens to are rock and sometimes even classical. He enjoys Skyline and finds it relaxing. “I go to school everyday and I have cool teachers”. Andrew Lidwell is currently in Journalism 120 class and he got inspired by a friend from trigonometry class. Andrew’s short term goal is to graduate and in life he hopes to do more theater. For the last 7 years, he did tech work for theater. Some includes work backstage at El Camino High School. He attempts to accomplish this goal by getting into a play called Broadway by the Bay, hoping he will get a job as a stage crew, or a technician. He has gotten a lot of experience from working backstage at theater shows in high school. He would help out with the technical things. Andrew just wants to live his life and wants to fulfill his dream like everyone else someday. With a positive attitude, I’m sure he can accomplish that dream anytime.
